Use cases

For creators like you

Incipite isn't built for major labels or law firms. It's built for you — the independent creator who publishes solo, shares early, and needs to prove prior art if the moment comes.

Scenario 1 / 3

You compose music outside of traditional channels

Scenario

James finishes a new composition at 2am. He wants to share it with a co-producer he doesn't know well yet, then upload it to SoundCloud two weeks later. He has no proof of when he created the file — only his word.

The problem

If a dispute arises over authorship, James can't prove when he created it. Audio file metadata is trivially easy to falsify. Collecting societies protect rights, not prior art. A co-production agreement signed after the fact proves nothing about who created what first.

How Incipite helps

James drops his audio file onto Incipite. In 30 seconds, its SHA-256 fingerprint is anchored on the Bitcoin blockchain via OpenTimestamps. He receives a PDF certificate with the exact UTC date and time. This proof is independent of Incipite — it will remain verifiable in 20 years.

The objection neutralised

"Music is about copyright, not blockchain." — True. But copyright protects the work, not prior art. If two people claim the same melody, whoever can prove they created it first has a decisive advantage in court. That's exactly what Incipite does.

Scenario 2 / 3

You create illustrations or designs that you publish online

Scenario

Priya launches a series of 12 illustrations based on a visual universe she's developed over 3 years. She publishes on Instagram to build an audience before selling them as prints. Two months later, another illustrator publishes a visually similar style.

The problem

Priya can't prove she developed her visual universe before the other illustrator. Instagram posts have a date — but it can be scheduled to appear later. Without proof of prior art on the source files, she has no leverage.

How Incipite helps

Before each publication, Priya anchors her source files on Incipite. The PDF certificate proves the creation date of each illustration, independently of the online publication date. If a dispute arises, she can show her files existed well before the other illustrator's publication.

The objection neutralised

"Style can't be protected." — Correct. But proving you created a specific file at a specific date is different from protecting a style. Prior art proof on source files strengthens credibility in an authorship dispute.

Scenario 3 / 3

You're writing a novel, screenplay, or long-form text

Scenario

Rachel has spent 3 years writing her first novel. She's about to submit it to literary agents and publishers. She wants proof that this manuscript is hers before the files start circulating.

The problem

Manuscripts submitted by email circulate among multiple readers. Without prior art proof on the file, if part of the text reappears elsewhere, it's difficult to prove who wrote it first. Sending yourself a dated email doesn't hold up — email metadata can be manipulated.

How Incipite helps

Rachel deposits her manuscript on Incipite before the first submissions. She receives a PDF certificate proving this exact file existed at this exact date. In case of dispute, this certificate constitutes solid prior art evidence, enforceable under EU eIDAS Regulation (Art. 41), the UK Property (Digital Assets etc) Act 2025, and the TJ Marseille ruling of 20 March 2025.

The objection neutralised

"I could just email it to myself." — No. Email timestamps can be spoofed server-side, and attached file metadata is modifiable. The Bitcoin blockchain is a timestamp ledger backed by global consensus — no one can rewrite its history.
