For companies
Internal files can be re-dated.
A permanent public record can’t.
Incipite anchors the fingerprint of a business document on a permanent public ledger and issues a dated certificate — without the document ever leaving your computer.
3 free certifications · No credit card · File 100 % local
It dates a file. It does not verify who you are, or any credential.
When a date is contested
A date you don’t control is a date you can’t defend
An engineering firm sends a technical proposal to a prospective client, who declines. Eight months later that client launches a very similar offer.
12 March
The PDF is anchored
Its fingerprint is written into a Bitcoin block. The certificate is filed with the job.
20 March
The proposal is sent
E-mail to the prospect. The firm keeps its own copy.
November
A similar offer appears
The client says the idea was theirs.
The record
Dated before the dispute
Anyone can check the proof, without asking the firm or Incipite.
What you already use
Where a Bitcoin timestamp sits
None of these is wrong. They answer different questions, and the bar gives our own indication of how much each one carries in a dispute — an indication, not a measurement.
Your own systems and e-mail
You control the clock and the files. Dates in a shared drive or a mailbox can be edited by whoever administers them.
Free
Incipitehere
A date nobody controls: the SHA-256 fingerprint is computed in your browser, anchored on Bitcoin through OpenTimestamps, and you get a PDF certificate right away plus a proof file any third party can verify.
3 free, then paid plans
OpenTimestamps, directly
The same anchoring, free and open source, but a command-line tool: you keep the proof file and verify it with software.
Free
Qualified electronic time stamp (eIDAS)
A legal presumption of the date and of the integrity of the data in the EU, issued by a qualified trust service provider. Incipite is not one. If a contract or a regulator requires a qualified stamp, use one.
Per stamp or subscription
Bailiff’s or notary’s record
The heaviest evidentiary weight, suited to a dispute already under way. Cost and delay make it a tool for one case, not for every document.
High, per act
A dated record is evidence, not a verdict. It does not replace a contract, an NDA or a qualified stamp.

What a certificate says, and what it never says
It says
- A file with exactly this content existed by this date.Change one comma and the fingerprint no longer matches.
- The date is anchored on Bitcoin, not in our database.Verifiable without us.
- The depositor had the file in hand.
It never says
- Who you are, or that your company is registered. On the Pro plan a company name and a reference can be printed on the certificate, marked as declared by you. We check no registry.
- Any diploma, licence, qualification or track record. Those are proven by the body that issued them.
- That the content is true, or that you wrote it.
- That it is a qualified eIDAS time stamp or an intellectual property title.
Your proof stays valid even if Incipite disappears.
It rests on OpenTimestamps, an open protocol. You keep the standard proof file; anyone can verify it against the Bitcoin blockchain with the open source client. Only the fingerprint ever reaches us, never the document, so keep the original: without it, the fingerprint proves nothing.
How it works
Three steps, thirty seconds
- 1
Finalise the document
Export it exactly as you will share it. The fingerprint covers that file, byte for byte.
- 2
Drop it on Incipite
The fingerprint is computed in your browser. A free account is needed to certify; checking a certificate needs none.
- 3
File the certificate
A one-page PDF straight away; the Bitcoin anchor is typically confirmed within 1 to 2 hours.
Questions
Frequently asked
Can a company use Incipite, or only individuals?
Anyone with an account can certify a document, including on behalf of a company. There is no separate company account today: the certificate names the account holder, and the Pro plan can add a company name and an internal reference as declared text.
Does a certificate prove my company’s credentials?
No. It proves that a given file existed on a given date. A diploma, a licence or a registration is proven by the authority that issued it.
Is it accepted in court?
We cannot promise an outcome. A verifiable dated record is solid evidence of anteriority, weighed alongside the rest. Article 41(1) of the EU eIDAS Regulation forbids dismissing an electronic time stamp solely because it is electronic. If your situation requires a qualified electronic time stamp, use a qualified provider. We are not a law firm and this is not legal advice.
Do I need an account to verify a certificate someone sent me?
No. The verification page is public.
Date your next document before you share it
Your first three certifications are free. No credit card.
